Water Series

The Water Series pictures are constructed aqueous environments, partially intended to demonstrate the power of what can be accomplished in front of the camera lens. The series explores the essence of water in relation to figurative forms, and water’s ability to reflect, refract, distort, and multiply, among other effects. Astonishingly, all images are presented as they were “seen” by the camera, with no computer or darkroom manipulation other than what is minimally required to achieve optimum tonal balance in the prints. Award-winning director Julie Taylor was so enamored by the effects achieved in this series that she engaged Brian as Artistic Advisor: Water Photography, for “The Tempest,” her big-screen adaptation of the play by Shakespeare.

Images from the Water Series are reproduced in the monograph, Aquatique.
